A week of festivals & fashion!

There are 2 exciting Fiori concerts over the next week to entertain you! First off is Fiori’s traditional choral concert at St Peter’s Church, Wolfhampcote this Sunday 29 June. This venue is Fiori’s version of Glastonbury; a remarkable occasion when both audience and Fiori Choir make for this isolated church in the middle of nowhere (so be prepared for a mini adventure to seek it out) to enjoy glorious renaissance choral music.

See Fiori live!

Fiori Musicali have a residency with The National Trust at Canons Ashby and so we're lucky enough to see them perform at the stunning Priory Church. Friday is one of those occasions! Fiori players are joined by Soprano Judit Felszeghy for Halcyon Summer performance of works by Handel, Telemann and Corelli. It's sure to be a gorgeous evening of beautiful music, with an optional garden picnic and Pimms at 6pm to make it that bit more of a treat.

Friendly greeting from Fiori Musical at Bilton GrangeI was greeted by a grand building and some friendly students who eagerly opened the door for me - a great first impression. Service with a smile!

From 2Day to Baroque

Did you catch '2Day' on Friday? Radio 2 mixed things up for the day, changing the scheduling to showcase the variety of music played by the station with this year's focus on the 'Orchestra'. Each programme looked at the groups of instruments in an orchestra throughout the day. I liked that I was learning as well as enjoying a brilliant mix of music. For example did you know that an orchestra does not include a saxophone?

Handel’s Messiah explained

Handel is one of the giants of the baroque. But I don't know much about him. Now, we can't be having that can we especially around Christmas when his famous work Messiah is prominent? So I asked Penelope Rapson, Director of Fiori Musicali, what she knows about the composer. It might be easier to ask what she doesn't know but here's what she told me.
