Adieu to 2024!

What a year it has been!  We have been honoured to play again for Music in Country Churches at Geddington where David Blackadder, trumpet royal, was on top form and we had the privilege of playing on the beautiful harpsichord from Boughton House by gracious permission of the Duke of Buccleuch and Queensberry.  We  discovered delightful new country venues – Slapton with its striking wall paintings, Paulerspury and Hinton in the Hedges.  We took part in an exciting recording of Monteverdi alongside Choir of the Earth under Ben England, involving hundreds of singers across the globe.  Then there was the amazing Zoe Brookshaw singing Silete venti at Fotheringhay, and the fantastically atmospheric Advent candlelight concert at Aynho, featuring Jane Downer and stunning trumpeter Rebecca Toal, beautiful chamber music in Fawsley and Edgcote and to cap it all Bach’s glorious Christmas Oratorio with the full Fiori orchestra – what a team!  all playing at the top of their game with wonderful soloists and choir.  2024 has seen us welcome new players and singers to Fiori and welcome back old friends, and we have begun our new ‘Watch this artist’ series with mesmerising guitarist Ian Watt.  We have been successful in gaining not one, but two successive grants from the prestigious Continuo Foundation – thank you Continuo Foundation!!and our wonderful audience has continued to support us via the Big Give Christmas Campaign – your donations make our music possible. We are hugely grateful – an enormous thank you to you all!

And now we turn the page on the year…
2025 is set to be full of fascinating  concerts – watch this space!
And a Happy New Year to you all!
