A New Year! Many greetings to all our followers. May 2026 be full of amazing and wonderful musical experiences for you.
Here at Fiori HQ we are busy with plans for many exciting concerts – some in familiar venues, others further off piste. Some with familiar faces, others featuring new or less frequent performers with Fiori.
Mozart’s clarinet quintet
First up, we are delighted to welcome once again Fiori’s longstanding friend, distinguished clarinettist (and until recently head of the Royal College of Music) Colin Lawson CBE. Colin joins us for Mozart’s poignantly beautiful clarinet quintet, at the end of January.
This music was written towards the end of Mozart’s life for the Viennese bassett clarinettist Anton Stadler, and Mozart himself performed alongside Stadler at the work’s premiere in Vienna in 1789. Colin Lawson – himself a Mozart scholar – will be playing on a bassett clarinet, so as to capture as accurately as possible the sound world of Mozart’s original creation.
Taking place in the comfort of the Northampton Museum and Art Gallery on Friday 30 January, this is a concert not to be missed. And along the way, Colin will also be introducing us to Stadler’s own compositions – including a witty caprice, which will form part of the evening’s entertainment.
