So what’s next in the Fiori concert programme? Well, here at Fiori HQ we are putting the finishing touches to our forthcoming summer series. But before the summer series gets going, there’s some rather different to look forward to, as we take a dive into the world of the Middle Ages.
Not far from Milton Keynes, in the village church at Alderton, there is a unique medieval effigy of Alderman and Parliamentarian William de Combemartin. This impressive wooden effigy inspires Fiori to explore music from the medieval world, including compositions by the 12th-century mystic and healer Hildegard of Bingen – monastic, visionary and one of the great medical authorities of her day.
Popular soprano Judit Felszeghy will be joining us for some of Hildegard’s most inspired and transcendental compositions. And we explore the medieval musical world further with guest performer Daniel Sarafini playing a rare Billingsgate trumpet in honour of the medieval London Alderman Sir William. Fiori field a wonderful array of instruments for this the programme, including cornetto, hurdy-gurdy, sagbutt, baroque trumpet, violin & dulcian as they bring to life the sound world of a long gone era.
