There is always in February some one day, at least, when one smells the yet distant, but surely coming, summer. — Gertrude Jekyll
And here at Fiori Musicali HQ we are focusing on the season ahead. After the excitement of distinguished clarinetist Colin Lawson CBE (and until recently head of the Royal College of Music) joining us for a truly amazing performance of Mozart’s iconic clarinet quintet, we are now looking forward to an exciting series of spring concerts. First off is Women, Wine & Song, marking International Women’s Day, with charismatic soprano Judit Felszeghy in fascinating repertoire by Vizzana. Vizzana was one of the rebellious nuns of Bologna, who defied the Treaty of Trent by singing in polyphony (and waging a battle with the Bishop’s men in their courtyard). This captivating and intriguing programme takes place in the intimate surroundings of the Old School at Abthorpe.
