Continuo Foundation Grants Spring/Summer Series 2023

Continuo Foundation logo

Fiori are thrilled to have been awarded a further grant from the Continuo Foundation for our summer series of concerts.   Thank you Continuo Foundation for  helping Fiori to spread our wings in a series of fascinating summer concerts & workshops, with long term musical colleagues & young people.  2023 is a red letter year for the nation and for Fiori.

A new King is crowned and it’s Fiori’ 40th year.   So this year it’s all about numbers…His Majestys Sagbutts & Cornetts (also celebrating their 40thanniversary!) join FM again for splendid Coronation music, as we return to Bakewell (where Continuo Foundation support enabled us to perform for the first time last Christmas).  The Continuo Foundation grant also supports us in taking this programme to the picturesque Northamptonshire village of Grafton Regis, with its royal connections to the White Queen.   Bach too was fascinated by numbers – hence our intriguing mathematically inspired programme in the secret country church at Edgcote. And at Castle Ashby we look back 300 years to 1723 – another momentous year in music, when everyone was on the move – Bach to Leipzig; Handel to Brook St and everyone to Prague for Charles VI’s Coronation.  Longstanding core Fiori players Kerstin Linder-Dewan, Gail Hennessy and Poppy Walshaw and soprano Judit Feszeghy feature prominently in our celebrational summer series.
