Like wheat that springeth green

It’s Palm Sunday already tomorrow and Easter will be upon us in the blink of an eye! A yearly milestone when we emerge from the gloom of winter and pause and marvel in the miracle of renewal and rejuvenation, as nature bursts forth out of its dark winter tomb, laden with blossom and promise – like the phoenix from the ashes and Christ from the Hades.

Fiori’s upcoming summer concert series too is full of wonderful new musical journeys to explore.

On Good Friday we mark the most solemn day of the ecclesiastical year with Allegri’s awesome Miserere – the soaring solo soprano line pointing us heavenward, far beyond the cares and troubles of our current world. There’s something rather wonderful about the capacity of beautiful, ethereal music to take us to these transcendent places. And my goodness, how we need the power of music to lift us beyond the quotidian!

Then in late April Hildegard of Bingen – the formidable 12th century musician and mystic – is the inspiration for the final concert in our series built around the fire and passion of the phoenix – bird of life and death (concerts generously supported by the Continuo Foundation). So don’t miss our ‘Hildegard and the Birds’ at Ashby St Ledger’s….

And out most recent exciting news is that Fiori have just gained a further national grant for four of our forthcoming concerts this summer all built around the legend of the Pied Piper of Hamelin. Watch this spot! Thank you hugely to the Continuo Foundation for supporting Fiori in these exciting ventures!
