A summer to remember!

What a summer Fiori has had!  – culminating in Haydn’s splendid Maria Theresa Mass in Fotheringhay on 10 August.  There was a real end of term feeling for this triumpant performance as choir, soloists and a superb orchestra of strings, clarinets, chamber organ, trumpets and drums resounded through the magnificent church there. The audience  cheers after each movement said it all! And soprano Judit Felszeghy- soloist in arias from Mozart comic opera La Finta Giardiniera – had the audience completely spellbound as she pirouetted effortlessly through Mozart’s deft and quixotic changes of musical mood.  Then there was our exciting concert at Castle Ashby –   the smoke virtually coming off the strings with violinist Kerstin Linder-Dewan’s fiery passagework in Bach’s  4th Brandenburg Concerto.  We were privileged to play for Music in Country Churches alongside distinguished trumpeter David Blackadder over in Suffolk in July.  What a huge honour! Palestrina’s glorious Missa Papae Marcelli rang out in Wolfhampcote’s isolated church to an enthralled audience with the choir in top gear- and trumpeter Adrian Woodward featured in ‘Hildegard and the Billingsgate trumpet’ a fascinating programme in front of a packed concert at Alderton and then returned for our al fresco performance in the glorious setting of  Coton Manor Garden on one of the hottest days of the year.  And not forgetting Biber’s amazing Mystery sonatas at Edgcote- yet another  magical evening.  So many amazing concerts with the wonderful team of performers that make up Fiori.    Fiori now take a break until mid September when we will be back with lots more new musical experiences to enjoy.
