Candlelight Concert for Advent –  30 November 2024
JS Bach and his circle

An atmospheric Advent Candlelight concert,  performed in St Michael’s Aynho’s fine ‘baroque church with Georgian fittings’  (as Simon Jenkins describes this lovely church in his seminal book England’s Thousand Best Churches.)

Beautiful 18th-century music for baroque oboe and trumpet with voices and organ, including chorale preludes by the great JS Bach, as well as music by his  rarely heard contemporary Georg Kauffmann (Bach’s rival for the post of Capellmeister in Leipzig) and his pupils Ludwig Krebs and Gottfried Homilius.

Hauntingly beautiful, reflective music for the season before Christmas, performed in the fine baroque church of St Michael’s, Aynho.  Do join us for this special evening.
